The Residence Inn by Marriott Los Angeles Torrance/Redondo Beach receives mixed reviews, with many praising its convenient location, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. However, recurring concerns include inconsistent room quality, issues with reservation fulfillment, and unexpected fees. Recent reviews highlight problems with cleanliness, communication, and overall guest experience.
We booked two rooms using our reward points. After making the reservation, on the same day I called the hotel and specifically requested that the two rooms be located as close to each other as possible. This was two weeks before our arrival day When we arrived at approximately 4:00 PM, the front desk receptionist informed me that there was no record of my request. Shortly afterward, a manager came out and stated that the request had in fact been documented, but that no nearby rooms were available at that moment. She provided us with one room in Building 5 and explained that another room in Building 6 was being prepared and would be ready in approximately 30–45 minutes. We waited on parking lot till around 5:00pm, but the second room was still not ready. As we were traveling as two families with three children, we decided to leave for dinner while waiting for the second room. Around 5:30 PM, I received a call informing me that the room was finally available. However, when I returned to pick up the room key, another front desk receptionist had no knowledge of the situation. I had to explain the entire sequence of events again before the room key could be issued. While I would not say that any individual staff member was rude, they are really not welcoming. The overall experience reflected poor communication and a lack of coordination among the hotel staff. The handling of our reservation request, room assignment, and follow-up communication suggested not enough training. This led in an experience that felt neither organized nor welcoming.
I was there to visit family who was staying at this hotel. The staff was really friendly, helpful, attentative, and professional. The lobby is clean and spacious. The restrooms in the lobby are clean. They have a good size pool and an area next to the pool to Bar-B-Q and a small gathering. I'm not to crazy about paying for overnight parking if you are already a paying guess staying at the hotel. Maybe complimentary coffee would be a good idea to have all day and night or up to 11pm. Even though I wasn't staying here, I had a good experience.
Booked my room over a month ago for two nights. I had a conference across the street. Came there that night, and they said “we do not have any rooms available”. Even though I already paid fully for two nights. They sent me down the street to a Sonesta hotel, which was disgusting. I didn’t even have pillows in my room. I’m not sure how you can have a room fully booked for over a month and all of a sudden the room disappears. So instead of being able to walk to the conference, I had to Uber. Completely ruined my experience. Then I had to harass them to get my money back for the two nights I prepaid for. I called three different times to speak with a manager who was constantly unavailable. The associate at the front desk said they “did not have the authority” to provide me a refund because prepaid rooms are usually nonrefundable. Which was confusing to me, because they canceled my room and sent me to another hotel. So while completely inconveniencing my trip, they told me to continue to call back. But again, I was at a conference and could not continue to call them for my money back for the room that THEY canceled. I even told them I was getting on a flight in a few hours. Still no phone call back. Had to dispute the charge with my bank. Poor Customer Service. Terrible experience. If I can help it, I will never stay at a Marriott again.
Stayed here while visiting family. The location is awesome and 10-15 mins from the beach and walking distance to the mall and food places. The room areas are spread out. The pool and outdoor seating area is at the front of the hotel area right behind the lobby and breakfast eating area. There is a 26 parking fee per night so be prepared. Overall the outdoors area is well kept and maintained. The rooms themselves could be updated. Pretty basic on the bathrooms and carpets in the room- which need an update. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The breakfast area had several eating areas where you could sit so it wasn’t over crowded- both indoor, outdoor, and upstairs. Lots of options and selections to choose from. On Sunday morning just before 8 the gardeners started up their clean up and trimming with loud equipment which was a bummer. Also we are elite Marriott members and we’re not acknowledged for it at all. The girl at check in seemed like she was just trying to get us in and on to the next person. Overall, great location but the rooms need to be revamped and look as nice as the lobby/ kitchen/ and pool area.
Large spacious rooms ruined by staff who would not stop knocking at our door on check out day. I have never been treated so poorly as a world traveler with Ambassador status in my life. My husband and I paid for late check out upon booking. On our last day staying here and we were interrupted not once, not twice… but FOUR times, despite paying for late check out. The first knock was well before check out time, waking us up during our hard earned getaway. If the goal from management is to make your guests feel like unwelcome intruders, you have certainly achieved that. There is truly no explanation or justification for treating your guests so poorly. As a former Marriott employee, I can say this is unacceptable in every regard. Do better and stop chasing out your paying guests. Unbelievable.
This hotel is conveniently located near the beautiful beach areas of Redondo and Manhattan Beach. The parking was inside the gates. There are many good places to eat within a mile or two. Our room was clean and free of odor. The bathroom was small but clean and had all the amenities. The queen-size bed was comfortable. The kitchen area was furnished with the needed utensils. The AC unit was outside and near the window but was noisy at times. The place was fairly quiet. The breakfast was wonderful. Many fresh and hot foods such as scrambled eggs, sausage, crispy hash browns, and soft pancakes. The reason for not giving a five rating was for the misleading service and the advertised parking fee. At the check-in time, the female clerk gave us two small water bottles. She did not say it was free or that there was a charge for it. When I received the final receipt via email, I noticed that I was charged six dollars for the water. The second thing was the parking fee. The hotel website mentioned $25 for parking. However, at the check-in counter, the sign said $27.50. Other than these two issues, our stay was good. Read less
Book it. ********* Pros: •Friendly staff, •Quite well kept facility •Pool, jacuzzi, outdoor fire pit lit nightly, well kept grills, basketball court. •Kitchenette •Package hold: we traveled there to visit family and the front desk happily accepted our package deliveries and kept them safe in a locked room for us to pick up with ID check. Cons: •Short showers hot water starts to run out after 10 minutes •Breakfast was just ok…but better than most. •IHOP and Dennys is around the corner. •No elevator (get a room on the 1st floor)
Hotel is somewhat dated, but the rooms were fine. I requested a first floor room because we had a lot of luggage….. didn’t happen. Asked for a room close to the front because we took Lyft…. Didn’t happen. This is a one night stay before a cruise so we’ll suck it up and manage !
I recently stayed at the Residence Inn Torrance Redondo Beach, and unfortunately the experience was far below Marriott standards. As a Titanium Elite member, I requested a 3 p.m. late checkout, which was approved on the Marriott chat. However, at 1:30 p.m., Clarissa from the front desk called to inform me I would be charged late fees, and she refused to believe my request had been approved. I had to stop by the front desk and show screenshots for them to reactivate my key. Not only was there no apology, but her tone was disrespectful, which made the situation even more frustrating. Beyond the service issue, the room had a strange odor, and the overall experience did not feel clean or welcoming. This was a very poor stay, especially given Marriott’s usual quality and the expectations at the Titanium Elite level. I hope management addresses both the customer service issues and the room conditions, as this property is far below brand standards.
Great long term place to stay. I'm here on business for a month. Very quiet and safe feeling. I appreciate that parking is behind a gate. No need to worry about my truck. Nice facility with laundry, pool, workout room. The staff has been incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this establishment.
